The camera performance of modern smartphones has improved dramatically, and it is now possible to take high-resolution photos and 4K videos on a daily basis. As a result, more and more people are facing the problem of quickly filling up their smartphone storage space. Cloud storage is also convenient, but it requires a monthly fee and depends on the communication environment, so it may take time to back up large amounts of data. Therefore, this time we will introduce the best portable SSD for backing up your smartphone.

The biggest advantages of portable SSDs are overwhelming data transfer speeds and physical security. Unlike HDDs, there are no physical moving parts, making them resistant to shock and easy to carry. In addition, recent models are compatible with USB Type-C, and an increasing number of products can be connected directly to Android smartphones and the latest iPhones to directly exchange data without using a dedicated app.

The first thing to consider when choosing is capacity. If your main purpose is to back up your smartphone, a storage capacity of 500GB to 1TB will be sufficient. Next is “transfer speed”. If the model is compatible with USB 3.2 Gen2, you can transfer video files of several GB in seconds. Furthermore, size and weight are also important. If you want to carry it with you all the time, we recommend a compact model that is no bigger than a business card.

Particularly recommended are Samsung’s T7 series and SanDisk’s Extreme Pro series. Although these are extremely compact, they boast transfer speeds of up to 1050MB/s and are splash- and dust-proof, so they can be used with confidence for backing up data taken outdoors.

If you are worried about running out of storage space on your smartphone, please consider installing a portable SSD. Save your precious memories safely and quickly and enjoy a comfortable smartphone life.
